A few days back, we were talking about dropshipping as a lucrative business model. To be precise, it is easy to start, scale-up, and run a dropshipping business profitably. Ecommerce platforms like Shopify lets you launch a robust online store fast and in an inexpensive way. Having your storefront ready, you can start your dropshipping business right away as soon as you have your list of suppliers available.
In a dropshipping business, however, the store builder is much less significant compared to the quality of your suppliers. The long term success of your business will heavily depend on the suppliers you choose. In other words, you must always work with reliable suppliers to succeed in your dropshipping business.
The bottom line is, quality of your suppliers can make or break the prospect of a successful dropshipping business.
Theoretically, you can choose and work with individual suppliers. That means, you can work with individual suppliers and place an order manually for processing and fulfillment. But, this is not a recommended method of running a dropshipping business.
As you must be aware, most entrepreneurs running successful dropshipping businesses actually partner with reliable marketplaces of suppliers. These dropshipping marketplaces or platforms ensure a steady and reviewed list of high-quality suppliers that can support multiple niches. Moreover, you are not limited to the catalog of any single supplier.
Besides, you can make use of the in-built integrations between these platforms and your ecommerce software to automate order processing, fulfillment, and tracking. While there are several dropshipping platforms available today, we are going to focus only on one of the most versatile and powerful marketplaces that you can use for your business.
In this article, we are going to review Spocket.
Here, we will talk about the features, pricing, strength, and weakness of the Spocket dropshipping platform in close detail. We are hopeful that this review will help you to decide if Spocket is right for you.

- Pros and Cons of Spocket
What is Spocket
Spocket is a dropshipping platform that lists hundreds of quality suppliers that can fulfill orders for your dropshipping business. Although Spocket is a new platform, it has rapidly gained enough traction among entrepreneurs. Thanks to its strict focus on quality of suppliers and products. Moreover, Spocket has significantly more number of integrations with all major store builders than its closest competitors.
Most importantly, Spocket lets you start with a free account. In other words, you can connect your store with Spocket right away. If you intend to sell products from its global suppliers using social media sites like Facebook or Instagram, Spocket lets you do that as well.
As we will see very soon, most of the suppliers in Spocket’s umbrella are based out of the United States, Europe, and Australia. As you can understand, unlike their main competitors, Spocket does not focus on listing inexpensive products from Chinese suppliers. This is the main difference between Spocket and other dropshipping platforms.
Spocket does not list cheap products compromising on the quality.
If you sign up for free and browse the product catalog of Spocket, you will find that it has a vast catalog of products to choose from, catering to various eCommerce niches. Suppliers in Spocket are individually vetted, rated, and reviewed.
If you still concerned about the product quality, which is definitely a good trait, you can order samples to check the quality of products before shipping them to customers. Spocket lets you order samples of products that you intend to sell from your store.
Apart from the fantastic official support team, Spocket also has an excellent support group. No doubt why a considerable number of businesses trust it for running their dropshipping businesses.
A common question that I am often asked is, what makes Spocket so different from its closest competitors?
We had just answered this in the previous section. Here we are going to discuss in more detail.
Unlike most dropshipping platforms like Oberlo or AliExpress, Spocket does not focus on cheap and inexpensive merchandise from Chinese suppliers. Instead, most of the suppliers are based out of the United States, EU, or Australia. The suppliers are vetted, reviewed, and rated in Spocket.
But, what does that mean for the you, the business owner?
With Spocket, you can be assured of better quality control, more consistent product quality, a reliable supply chain, and happier customers.
Moreover, if your customers are primarily located in the same geographies as the suppliers, they will receive the products faster.
Of course, the flip side is the products will be more expensive than their Chinese counterparts. So, you need to compare cost with quality to make a decision. In my opinion, if you are planning to build a successful long term business, customer satisfaction should be a priority. This means quality wins over marginal benefit of cost.

One of the main advantage of using a dropshipping platform like Spocket is to minimize the need of manual intervention while processing an order. As expected, Spocket will not disappoint you here.
When your customer places an order in your store, it gets synced up in Spocket automatically. As the storeowner, to process the order towards fulfillment – you need to follow the following steps:

One good feature is, you get notified on the status of fulfillment every time an action takes place. This can help you to keep track of the entire fulfillment process.
Features of Spocket
Shipping Time of Spocket
As you must be aware by now, the main supplier base of Spocket is based out of the United States and Europe. In other words, most of the suppliers of Spocket are located in these geographies.
This also means that unlike most other dropshipping platforms like Oberlo and AliExpress, Chinese suppliers do not form the core of Spocket’s supplier list. While this means the products in Spocket’s catalog are a little bit expensive, you can be sure of a better and more consistent quality of products.
After logging in to your Spocket dashboard, you can check the rating and feedback of individual suppliers. You can also check the processing and shipping time of an order from your dashboard. After you search for a product and click on its image, you will find a pop-up window with all these details.
Now, the general user feedback indicates that Spocket has a fast shipping time. Moreover, your customers will receive the products faster if they are located in the United States and Europe.
You must also note that at present, Spocket’s suppliers only offer standard shipping options. In other words, expedited shipping is not yet available in Spocket. This is something you need to be aware of at present.
After the supplier ships out an order, you will receive the shipment details and tracking links over email. You can also access the order details from your Spocket dashboard.
Global Pricing Rules
Spocket has a powerful feature that lets you update pricing in bulk. If you use this feature, you can update the prices of a bulk of products in one go. In other words, bulk update helps you to eliminate the efforts to update the price for individual products manually.
Moreover, you can adjust your profit level by setting up a markup over and above the base price that you pay to your suppliers. Spocket supports several markup types. For example, you can set your margin as a percentage, multiplier, or just a flat rate of money. You can even set different markups based on the price ranges of the products in Spocket’s catalog.
Another interesting feature of Spocket that I want to discuss in this review of Spocket is known as assign cents. You can use this feature to ensure that the product prices follow your chosen format. For example, the price can follow the format of $0.99 or $0.00.
This is a really important reason why I prefer Spocket to Oberlo. But before going into the details of what you can do, let me briefly touch upon the importance of a branded invoice.
Branding is an essential ingredient to establish your own business. This is particularly true for a dropshipping business. A branded invoice achieves this easily. With a branded invoice, you can actually ship a customized invoice rather than shipping some generic template that is probably used by several other businesses. In short, a branded invoice speaks only about your brand.
Fortunately, Spocket allows you to generate branded invoices for your shipments easily. You can set up branded invoices from your Spocket dashboard.
Spocket lets you add:
- The logo of your shop.
- The contact email.
- Your phone number.
- A personalized note.
However, note that every supplier listed in the Spocket dropshiiping platform does not support branded invoices. So, you must check the product details to ensure that the supplier lets you send custom invoices.
Moreover, while all Spocket retailers can provide their email and phone numbers on invoices. But, adding a logo and personalized note requires a paid Spocket subscription.
Another aspect of branding is use of proper packaging. For example, if your suppliers ship your products along with their own promotional materials and information printed all over, it is going to harm your brand.
The suppliers of Spocket send items in brand-neutral packaging. They do not include any promotional materials with the shipment. This ensures that your suppliers are invisible to the end customers.
However, remember that certain items like apparel may come with the manufacturer’s tags. On one hand, these tags indicate that the products are new and unused. On the other hand, they are also used to honor supplier’s refund policies.
Spocket has a free plan to help you jumpstart your dropshipping business. In other words, you can sign up for a free Spocket account to browse its catalog of products.
If you find the catalog is suitable for your niche, you can upgrade to any of its paid plans to scale up your business.

Overall, we found Spocket’s Pro plan as the most impressive choice with its support for custom branding.
You must note that all payments are processed securely via Stripe. Stripe charges a processing fee of 2.9% + 30 cents for every successful order.
Moreover, Spocket charges a 5% transaction fee to cover the order processing fees if the supplier maintains warehouses in the US and China. As of writing this article, there are no other direct expenses for dropshipping with Spocket.
Now that we have discussed the key Spocket features and pricing, let us summarize few of the advantages and disadvantages of this dropshipping platform.
Advantages of Spocket
As a dropshipping platform, Spocket has several advantages. Some of its strengths are:
- Spocket has a large number of high-quality suppliers that can cater to multiple eCommerce niches.
- You can start using the Spocket platform for free.
- Spocket supports most of the common online store builders including Shopify and WooCommerce.
- Spocket offers its powerful features at competitive pricing.
- Spocket supports branding and can effectively hide the suppliers from your customers.
Limitations of Spocket
Typically, all platforms have some limitations or shortcomings. As part of a detailed review of Spocket, I found it necessary to list some of its limitations here.
- Spocket supports custom logo only from its Pro plan and above.
- The products on Spocket’s catalog are often expensive than their cheaper Chinese counterparts.
Alternatives to Spocket
Oberlo is one of the popular alternatives to Spocket. This is more because it supports Shopify out of the box.
But what you must note is Oberlo allows you to sell only Chinese products from AliExpress. Unlike Spocket, you do not get a catalog of high-quality products from suppliers located in the United States, EU, or Australia.
While the products listed in Spocket may seem more expensive, you can be assured of better quality control and customer satisfaction.
On the other hand, Oberlo has a free plan that lets you launch your business right away if you have an active Shopify subscription.
For a detailed comparison between Spocket and Oberlo, you can read our Spocket vs Oberlo comparison.
The bottom line is, if you run your shop using Shopify and want to focus on inexpensive Chinese products – you can try out Oberlo. For all other business owners, I recommend Spocket.
Modalyst is another popular dropshipping platform that specializes in fashion and related accessories. Recently Modalyst has also expanded to home goods, beauty products and, electronics niche.
Its catalog has a selection of international and independent suppliers. In other words, Modalyst works with suppliers from all over the world. But, the majority of suppliers on this platform are from the United States.
You must note that none of the suppliers on Modalyst are wholesalers. Modalyst works with independent designers and brands who create and ship their products.
One major drawback of Modalyst is it has a really limited number of integrations with eCommerce platforms. Most importantly, it has no support for the WooCommerce platform.
For a more detailed comparison of Spocket with Modalyst, you can read our Spocket vs Modalyst comparison.
The takeaway is, you can try out Modalyst if you are using one of the supported platforms and deal in one of the niches that Modalyst focuses. Spocket is our choice otherwise.
Like Oberlo, Topdser also works only with Shopify. Moreover, it also sources products from Chinese suppliers listed in AliExpress and 1688. Interestingly, Topdser lets you start selling for free. In other words, you can sign up for any paid plans to use this platform.
A unique feature of the Topdser platform is its cashback mechanism. If you link your Admitad affiliate account to your Topdser account, you can and receive cashback for eligible orders.
Topdser offers you four different pricing plans. We encourage you to visit the Topdser website and check the more comprehensive details of the different plans.
What makes it a better choice than Oberlo is its features to promote your brand. Apart from custom invoices, you can contact support to create customized packaging tapes, stickers, and branded packaging for your shipments.
In addition, it has a feature called Private Storage. If you choose to use this for your business, you can pre-purchase products and stock them in your private inventory. Though this is not a typical practice in dropshipping business, this is a feature that you may want to explore. Private storages eliminate the risk of out-of-stock situations and can help you to ship products faster.
The bottom line is, Topdser is better than Oberlo if you prefer to sell Chinese merchandise from your Shopify store. But, of course, the concerns with inconsistent product quality of Chinese products will still be there!
Overall, Spocket is an excellent option to start your own dropshipping business. The free plan is generous enough to browse the catalog for free and check out the features that it offers. If you find this dropshipping platform is a good fit to run your business, you can upgrade to one of its paid plans. The inexpensive starter plan of Spocket is well equipped to help you launch your store fast and without significant upfront investment.
To summarize, Spocket has effective automation and integrations with most major eCommerce platforms. Moreover, if you want, you can also use other dropshipping platforms along with Spocket.
Besides the out-of-the-box integrations with various eCommerce platforms, Spocket has several powerful features like list of quality suppliers and ability to generate custom invoices that can help you to launch, run, and succeed in your dropshipping business.
With its impressive list of quality suppliers and powerful features, Spocket is definitely a pocket-friendly dropshipping platform that you must explore for your business.
