Spocket Vs Oberlo – An Unbiased Comparison

Spocket vs Oberlo
Spocket and Oberlo are two leading dropshipping platforms. This unbiased Spocket vs Oberlo comparison will show you their differences.

You must be aware that in a dropshipping business, the store owner does not maintain his own inventory of products. Instead, usually, he connects his store with a supplier for the fulfillment of all orders.

At a very high level, the fulfillment flow in a dropshipping business works as follows:

  1. The end customer places an order and pays.
  2. The shop owner places an order with a supplier for the fulfillment of this order.
  3. The supplier takes care of the fulfillment and logistics. This means, the supplier ships the products to the end customer on behalf of the store owner.

In short, a dropshipper sells an item without even stocking the product in his own inventory.

The basic requirements for success in a dropshipping business are:

  1. An online storefront built on an eCommerce platform like Shopify or WooCommerce.
  2. Integration with suppliers who can handle the white label fulfillment on your behalf.

So, where does dropshipping platforms like Spocket or Oberlo fit in this flow?

The answer follows.

By theory, you can integrate your storefront with any supplier you choose. In practice, successful dropshippers choose one or more supplier marketplaces like Spocket or Oberlo for their stores.

The simple reasons for opting for these dropshipping platforms are:

  1. You can find several products from many different suppliers in one place. You are not restricted to the catalog of any single supplier.
  2. These platforms often provide inbuilt bolt-on apps for common eCommerce platforms. This makes integration of the eCommerce platforms very easy.

While the basic similarities between these dropshipping platforms end here. They are different in their own ways.

In this article, we will only focus on the Spocket and Oberlo dropshipping platforms.

This Spocket vs Oberlo comparison will bring out the difference between these two platforms. We are sure this is going to help you find the best dropshipping platform for you.

Spocket, on the other hand, is a newcomer. Founded in 2017, it has gained enough traction in recent times. Spocket lets you find quality products from handpicked US and European suppliers.

Both Spocket and Oberlo have a huge inventory of products making it easy to find products to sell online.

Branded invoices with Oberlo

Coming to Oberlo, we did not find any easy option to send branded invoices with your shipment.

What Oberlo suggests is to include a note to your supplier. This note should say that you are dropshipping. And you do not want your supplier to include invoices or their promos with the shipments.

You can set this note in the custom note section with the following steps.

Spocket vs Oberlo: Platforms Supported

All things similar, the choice of your dropshipping platform may be limited only because of the supported eCommerce platforms. You are rarely going to change your eCommerce software because a dropshipping platform does not support it.

In this section, we are going to find out which eCommerce platforms you can use with Spocket and Oberlo.

Which platforms are supported by Oberlo?

While you must have already guessed, Oberlo works only with Shopify.

This means, if you run your online store on WooCommerce – you are out of luck. You must have an active Shopify subscription to use Oberlo.

If you have a Shopify account, you can install the free Oberlo app and start using Oberlo right away.

Which platforms are supported by Spocket?

Spocket also supports Shopify. But, it also supports the WooCommerce platform.

You can import your products and automate order processing on both these platforms.

The bottom line is if you are running a store with Shopify you can use both Oberlo and Spocket. But, if your store is running on WooCommerce, you can use only Spocket.

While the choice really depends on your eCommerce platform, I prefer to have more options. And so, Spocket is the clear winner here.

Spocket vs Oberlo: Spocket wins.

Spocket vs Oberlo: Sourcing of Products

In dropshipping, your store integrates with the dropshipping platform. Your success depends on the reliability and quality of your supplier. So, before choosing a dropshipping platform like Spocket or Oberlo, you may want to check about the product sourcing.

From where does Spocket source its products?

Spocket lists quality products from US and EU suppliers on its catalogs. This may result in little more expensive items. But it also assures you better quality control.

According to testimonials, Spocket provides products having better quality than its competition. The suppliers are vetted. Interviewed and evaluated.

From where does Oberlo source its products?

Oberlo lets you import products from AliExpress. Now if you are not aware of AliExpress, here is a primer.

AliExpress is a big marketplace based out of China. You can find many vendors selling lots of products in AliExpress. Each of these vendors will have different service and shipping options.

While Chinese products may be a cheaper option for you, do not expect any strict quality control. You need to test samples and take a call before selecting your supplier.

In short, Spocket has better quality control over products and suppliers than Oberlo. While this is a subjective decision, I will still give an edge to Spocket.

Spocket vs Oberlo: Spocket wins.
